2008 Formula Extreme
Round 2: 18-20th April
Mallala Raceway SA

Last weekend’s racing at Mallala (SA) saw DRT increase its position in the Formula Extreme standings from 8th to 5th place overall. Dean was fast during practice and felt comfortable on the big Mick Hone Suzuki going into qualifying on Saturday morning. The pace picked up during the morning session and Dean found himself in a comfortable position until a two wheel slide through Turn 1 ended in an off track excursion. With little qualifying time remaining a certain sense of dejavue found DRT starting from the third row for the weekend’s racing.

Starting from P10 on the grid at Mallala presented Dean with a tough challenge at the start of the each of the three races. The run from the start line to the entry to Turn 1 is short and it’s easy to be freight trained or pushed off the track entirely!
Race 1 saw Dean launch off the line in his typical NASA style. The early ground allowed Dean to take 5th place in Race 1 which was a terrific result starting from 10th on the grid. Some of Dean’s competitors had now worked out DRT’s race plan and were wiser when the red light went out at the start of Race 2. Unable to penetrate the masses of bikes in front of the #88 monster, Deano took three places during the race and crossed the line in 7th position.

Race 3 should have seen DRT improve on the previous result if not for a red flag in the later laps that saw the race declared whilst Dean was in 6th position. Dean managed to take a couple of positions on the same lap as the red flag was incurred which were lost when the race was declared (note he didn’t overtake under red!). DRT was awarded 8th place for Race 3 and 5th place outright for Round 2. DRT is now in 5th place overall with only 6 points separating 5th and 3rd place we’re looking forward to improving on our solid start to the season. Round 3 see’s DRT take up the FX Cup assault at Winton Raceway over the weekend of the 30th May / 1st June 2008.
FX Cup Standings After Round 2:

We wish to thank:
Over Round 2 the team was privileged to have the assistance of Rod from Pro-Coat who made the journey down from sunny North Queensland. Rod filled numerous boots during the meet with yours truly out of action thanks to my crash at PI, and Rocket being held up in Sydney for some serious work related matters (top work Rod thanks mate!). Thanks to Symes Accident Repairs for the paint job on #88, and most recently for preparing our second set of race glass with only hours before transport to Mallala!
We would also like to thank Tommy, as well as Pete from Hern Engineering for helping out over the weekend, as well as Dave and Marty from Krooztune and Shane and the team from Oleon for their trackside support! Congratulations to teammate Chas Hern for a terrific result at Round 2, and thanks Keith Muir Photography ( for helping us capture the moments!

Dynoverks Racing Team Website Launched:
If you’ve been online and checked out the Dynoverks website lately you might have noticed the new DRT Racing menu button on the top right. Thanks to our friends at we will now be uploading everything DRT to the new website. If you like the look of what you see you’ll probably want to get yourself a copy of Weekend Warriors, or Bitch’n Bitumen, two stellar publications from Roost Industries.
